My teaching interests include the politics of memory, monuments and museums; comparative fascisms, totalitarianisms and nationalisms; soccer and globalization; the World Wars; the cultural, social and intellectual history of modern Europe and modern Italy; and reflexive approaches to historiography and research.
In recent years, I have been honoured by outstanding teacher awards from the West Virginia University Foundation and WVU's Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, as well as the Caperton Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Writing. I was also a Faculty Fellow of the WVU Honors College.
