My teaching interests include the cultural, social and intellectual history of twentieth-century Europe and modern Italy; the politics of memory and historical representation; comparative fascisms and totalitarianisms; the Second World War; soccer and globalization; and reflexive approaches to historiography and research.
In recent years, I have been honored by outstanding teacher awards from both the West Virginia University Foundation and the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, as well as the Caperton Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Writing. I was also a Faculty Fellow of the WVU Honors College.
