Other Interests
I am a lifelong and long-suffering supporter of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, currently playing in the English Football League Championship; you can read my mawkish testimony here. In Italy, of course I support AS Roma.
I am also an avid collector and performer of prewar Delta Blues and American roots music. For vintage recordings, check out Yazoo Records and Document Records. The best contemporary Blues label today is Fat Possum in Oxford, MS; I also love the alt-country sound pioneered by Chicago's Bloodshot Records. During my years in Chicago, I was the guitarist for the alt-blues band Revelator. A few tracks and photos may still be available on our old MySpace page; in DC, I played with the Highballers, the capital's finest purveyors of "dirty country music." You can sometimes find me performing at the open mic night at Morgantown's Blue Moose Café.
